slide32On Tuesday (3-27-07) afternoon Sheriff’s Investigators were in Wilseyville following up leads on a burglary that had been reported on March 9th in West Point. An estimated $78,000 worth of property had been taken during the break in. Investigators located the Stolen Willy's Jeep at a residence on Mitchell Mil Lane. The stolen Jeep had been spray painted in an attempt to disguise it. While Investigators were inspecting the Jeep they heard an all terrain vehicle approach the scene. Investigators attempted to contact the subject described at this time as a white male on the ATV. As the ATV approached Investigators noticed it matched the description of the ATV that had been stolen in the burglary they were investigating. As Investigators attempted to contact the subject he fled the area on the ATV.

slide34 Investigators gave chase but ended the pursuit shortly after losing sight of the ATV near the river. The subsequent investigation led to two search warrants being served at residences located on Blue Mountain Rd and Mitchell Mil Lane in Wilseyville. Investigators worked throughout the evening in to the next morning recovering nearly all of the reported stolen property. Investigators arrested Samuel Campa age 23 of Wilseyville for possession of stolen property and vehicle theft (bail $30,000), Danielle Schaffner of Wilseyvile for possession of stolen property and vehicle theft (bail $30,000), Dirk Caviglia age 32 of Vallejo for possession of stolen property and parole violation (no bail) and Emily Surginer age 24 of Wilseyville for possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and possessing drug paraphernalia. As a side note both Surginer and Schaffner were released from County Jail due to overcrowding. In addition, Surginer had been sentenced to serve 240 days in County Jail on a previous and unrelated possession of stolen property and vehicle theft case. Due to Jail overcrowding Surginer was released with time served.
