There were a number of vehicle accidents on our roadways this past weekend. According to the California Highway Patrol, Randy Jarrett, 48 of Dublin was riding his motorcycle Sunday while under the influence of alcohol at 55 – 60 miles per hour eastbound on Hwy 88 near Omo Ranch Rd. Jarrett allowed his motorcycle to travel onto the dirt shoulder, where he lost control and was ejected from his bike. He was arrested for driving under the influence. Just 13 minutes before, also on Hwy 88 near Omo Ranch Rd, another motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn, slid off the road and was ejected from his motorcycle. Bryant Love, 44, of Lodi, suffered only minor injuries. Two accidents at the intersection of New York Ranch Rd and Ridge Rd resulted in minor injuries and damage to cars.
The wet roadway and over-correcting were blamed for a single car rollover accident there on Sunday morning. And at the intersection of Hwy 49 and Hwy 16 near Plymouth, a vehicle was stopped at the stop sign on Hwy 49 and did not see a second vehicle approaching on Hwy 16, pulled out onto the highway and broadsided the second vehicle as it passed by. Fortunately, the driver of the first vehicle suffered only minor injuries.
