Later that evening, around 6 pm, another motorcycle accident sent another to the hospital, this time with more serious injuries. Julian Rodriguez, 25 and of Jackson was driving his 2005 Suzuki westbound on Stoney Creek Road at an unknown rate of speed according to Officer Cheryl Wilburn’s report. As Rodriguez approached a curve, he was unable to maintain the land and ran off the south shoulder. As a result he was ejected from the motorcycle into a field. Rodriguez was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.
Offcier Wilburn was then called to the scene of another accident Saturday evening at approximately 8:50pm. According to her report 32 year old Daniel Kamata of Volcano was traveling northbound on Pine Grove Volcano Road and Warner Road. Kamata was apparently traveling at an unsafe speed and was unable to maintain his 1995 Acura in the lane. The vehicle left the roadway and Kamata lost control of the car causing it to hit strike a tree. Kamata was not injured in the accident but according to the report he is under investigation for driving while intoxicated.
Just hours later another drunk driver attempted to navigate Amador County’s roadways, endangering the lives of others. Richard Wayne McClure, 42 and of Pine Grove was driving his 1981 pickup truck east bound on Hwy. 88 at 45 mph. According to Officer Craig Zaragoza’s report due to McClure’s level of intoxication he lost control of his pickup and the vehicle exited the roadway to the north and rolled over. McClure was arrested for driving while under the influence.
On Sunday Officer Melissa Scobee responded to the scene of a hit and run accident on Hale Road. According to her report an unknown driver was driving a 1988 Chevy Station wagon northbound on Hale Rd. just 3 miles south of Fiddletown Rd. The unknown driver allowed the vehicle to travel off of the west roadway edge and collide with a parked car. After the collision the driver fled the scene and left the vehicle at the accident site.
