The approximate number has not been determined as of yet, but staff is currently looking into it. The council approved the recommendation to receive the plans and specifications, and authorized City Clerk, Janice Traverso, to advertise the project with bids opening up on October 2 of this year. Next on the agenda for discussion was the Howard Park Sewer Line Replacement, and the reviewing of electrical wiring needed for the Snack Shack in Howard Park. The sewer Line Replacement Project is the needs to be done because the original installation of the pipe by volunteers was done incorrectly at the time of the Soccer Field Construction. The pipe was not inspected after installation because no permits had been issued or routine policies followed. The Recommendation to the council from city staff was to approve the project with bids opening on October 2 of this year. This was approved unanimously. The next topic of discussion was again Howard Park, and the lack of electrical wiring in the Snack Shack, which was donated and built by volunteers. The wiring must be pulled over from other sources in the park, however the project had no laid out plans for an electrical source. The council approved authorizing the finance director to establish a supplemental appropriation of 20-thousand-dollars for the electrical project with the Source of funding coming from Park Impact Fees. Again, with full support of the council and a unanimous decision as well. A Subcommittee to deal with issues and projects at the city’s park, the premier park in the county, will be meeting next week. The subcommittee will be discussing current contracts, future projects, and how the park fits into the city’s General Plan update. 

Lastly on the agenda was the Recommendation to authorize the City Manager, Kimberly Kerr, to finalize and sign contract with AAA Pipeline Inspection for on-going maintenance on the city’s sewer system. AAA Pipeline Inspection was given a $40,000 agreement in May when they began working on video-taping of the sewer system in response to a state ordered “Cease and desist order” for spills experienced by the city’s sewer system. At this point 95-percent of the videotaping is completed,  and the next steps will be to document what is on the tapes and what is on the maps, and correlate the findings. There is technically an agreement with AAA Pipeline Inspection and the City of Ione, but it is not complete. The council approved unanimously to approve a contract.
