Home For The Holidays

Now it’s time for TSPN’s Home for the Holidays series – featuring fun, free or low cost activities for the whole family to enjoy right here in Amador County, now through New Years Day! Here’s a look at what’s coming up this weekend:

Christmas Craft Faire at Preston Castle to benefit Junior Girls Golf Program, sponsored by the Castle Oaks Women’s club, will be held this Saturday, December 1st from 10am to 3pm. There will be arts, crafts, a bake sale, hot beverages, tamales, fabulous raffle prizes, a puppet show, face painting and castle tours; plus an appearance by Santa Claus. 6th Annual Children's Holiday Festival: "Winter Festivals Around the World" will be held Friday, November 30 from 5:30-8 pm at the Sutter Creek Auditorium. This a totally free event with holiday fun designed for the youngest children – and their older siblings and parents. Santa Claus will be there along with activities, music, snacks and holiday entertainment. Bring the whole family! This event is sponsored by First 5 Amador. For more information call 257-1092.

 

The Upcountry Community Center is hosting its 1st Annual Holiday Open House on Saturday December 1st from Noon till 4pm at the Upcountry Community Center, 19999 Highway 88 in Pine Grove. Children can give Santa their wish list and get pictures taken for a requested donation of $3. There will be refreshments and crafts. There is also an opportunity to help with there holiday project by bringing an unwrapped gift for a child aged 0-17. This is a project of the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency. Mother Lode Scots Christmas Walk will be held on Saturday, Dec 1. in Plymouth this year. This Scottish candlelight procession is a favorite long-time Amador County tradition. Gather at the gazebo on Main Street at 5:30 pm. The candlelight procession on Main Street begins at 6.

 


Come to a Hospice Tree of Lights ceremony and celebrate the life of someone you love. For each $10 donation, Hospice will place a light on the Tree and list the name of the person you wish to remember on a Memorial Board at the site. The Tree of Lights Ceremony will be Sunday, December 2, 5:00 pm at the Hospice Thrift Store in Jackson. For more information, call 223-5500 or go online at www.hospiceofamador.org.

 

Do you and a partner have what it takes to be on the next "Amazing Race" TV show? An Open Casting Call will be held right here in Amador County on Sunday, December 9 at the Jackson Rancheria Hotel in the Grand Oak Ballroom. Doors open at 9:00 AM, and the casting call lasts till 2pm. All participants must be 21 or older and have valid passport or proof of applying for a passport.
