Peace Officer of the Year and Citizen of the Year Awards Presented

slide7Amador County’s Peace Officer of the Year and Citizen of the Year were honored Saturday night by the Amador County Peace Officer’s Association. Amador County Sheriff Lieutenant Charles Ray was named Peace officer of the Year. Ray has been in Amador County law enforcement since 1987. He has worked in narcotics investigations, and as a field training officer, firearms instructor, member of the SWAT team and Dive Rescue Team. Lieutenant Ray has twice been involved in deadly force incidents where he placed his life on the line to protect innocent bystanders and fellow officers.
He is an active member of a statewide law enforcement leadership program, and is currently working on a Sheriff’s department program to teach communications and leadership skills to employees.  Al Lennox, president of American Legion Ambulance Service, was honored as Citizen of the Year. Lennox was recognized for his many years of community involvement and support. Lennox runs the local chapters of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the county’s well-known ambulance service. He also participates in the local Emergency Medical Care Committee and has facilitated the donations medical equipment and vehicles to local law enforcement agencies and Amador County Search and Rescue. The Peace Officers Association held a banquet in honor of both men Saturday night – congratulations to Charles Ray and Al Lennox from TSPN.
