On a lighter note this weekend was full of activities for Amador County residents and tourist alike, and two of those events drawing a great crowd included the Sutter Amador Health Festival and the Sutter Creek Organ Music Event. A little rain and gray weather couldn’t keep participants away from this year’s Health Festival which kicked off on Friday Oct. 12. The big event also included the beginning of the Amador County Public Health Department’s fight against the fall flu. The focus of the event included information about the services that Sutter Amador offers, Safe Kids car seat check and a Walking Path Challenge. Child Passenger Safety Technicians were on hand to inspect car seats and determine if they had been recalled, were the wrong size or had been improperly installed.

Low cost car seats were also available to families who were in need of the proper car seat for their children. Law enforcement and fire protection vehicles, bicycle safety information and more could be found to keep kids interested. The highlight, however seemed to be Smokey the Bear was found roaming the grounds sharing information about fire safety.  This year’s Health Festival was considered a huge success despite the gray weather. Saturday and Sunday proved sunnier for attendees of the Organ Rally in Sutter Creek. The organs lined the street with music this weekend for the first ever Organ Rally in the County.

John Motto-Ros the International President of the Automatic Musical Instrument Collectors' or AMICA, said that while these events are popular in other areas of the State Amador County had yet to see an event of this kind- so he invited the Southern California chapter of AMICA, to conduct the first ever Organ Rally. Motto-Ros commented on the successful event. “We think it is a happy event a fun event, and we hear comments (from attendees that) they would like to bring the rally back again next year.” He added that, “It is a good event for the City and we need to advertise it more so we can do it again next year.”
