Board of Supervisors Approve MOU ContinuingTradition of
On the Consent agenda yesterday
the Board of Supervisors approved a Memorandum of Understanding or MOU for the
Amador County Sheriff’s Office to continue providing services to the Amador
County Superior Court. The Amador
County Sheriff’s Office has provided security and bailiff services to the Amador
Superior Court for a number of years now based on an interim agreement that the
Board approved several years ago. The Sheriff’s Office and the Superior
Court have negotiated a revised MOU for the provision of the security and bailiff
services.
The MOU specifies the level of court security services provided by
the Sheriff’s Office, the cost of the services and the payment for such
services. The MOU defines
the Sheriff’s Office scopes of services as continuing to staff the weapons
checkpoint before entering the main courthouse, staff the separate screening at
the other court chambers next door, as well as conduct perimeter checks among
some of the duties mentioned. The agreement also anticipates the move
from Court Street to the John C. Begovich Building at 500 Argonaut Lane. Under
the agreement the Court must consider all recommendations made by the Sheriff
for addressing additional security needs or concerns. The MOU also spells out that the Court has agreed
to pay the Sheriff’s Office “for the allowable costs for the court security
personnel services provided.” The Board unanimously approved the MOU
continuing the tradition that Court security is provided by the Sheriff’s
Office.
