Amador County Waste Managemenet Offering Tire Collection Event
Written by
Amador County Waste Management Department is
offering special one-day waste tire collection events at three convenient
locations. The first is Saturday
October 27th from 10am to 12pm at Plymouth Elementary School.
The second, Saturday,
November 3 from 10-12 at Airport
Road in Jackson
and the last on Saturday,
November 10th from 10-12 at Howard Park in Ione. Amador County
residents may bring up to nine passenger or light truck tires without rims to
one scheduled collection event for proper disposal and recycling. Space is
limited, therefore, industrial, farming, or heavy equipment tires will not be
accepted. This event is for residential use only and not available to tire
dealers, shops, or other commercial businesses. Sorry, there are no exceptions
to these restrictions.
The Waste Management Department wants to remind
Amador Citizens that the California State Law has established a legal limit for
the transportation of tires. The CHP may cite vehicles transporting more than the designated legal
limit of nine tires per vehicle. Amador County Waste Management
Department promotes the appropriate disposal and recycling of waste tires
through the Waste Tire Amnesty Programs. As a result of these one-day events in
2004 and 2006, over
3,300 tires that may have otherwise remained stockpiled on private property, or
possibly, disposed of illegally were collected for proper handling and
recycling. Tire Amnesty Events are made possible through funding provided
by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. For more information about
this event or recycling in general please contact the Amador County Waste Management Department
