Accidents On Amador County Roadways
Amador County had two accidents
on Tuesday that sent 4 to the hospital. The
first accident occurred on Hwy. 49 at Sutter Ione Road. According to Officer Cheryl Wilburn the accident
occurred at approximately 6:25pm when Molly Colby, 26 and of Sutter Creek was
eastbound on Ione Road and stopped at the stop sign on Hwy. 49 and then
proceeded to continue straight across the Highway directly into the path of 69
year old Barbara Garden of Carmichael who was north bound on Hwy. 49
approaching Sutter Ione Road. Garden applied her brakes but was unable to stop
and struck the right side of Colby’s vehicle. Colby and her one year old passenger
were uninjured in the accident but Garden and her passenger were both
transported to SAH for treatment of minor injuries
Just about 20 minutes later
another accident occurred on the other end of the County at Tabeaud Road North
of Mamre Road at the same corner that was the scene of a teen drunk driving
accident over the weekend. According to Officer Brandon Hallam’s report a 23 year old from Jackson
identified by only her last name, Gurzenski, was traveling north bound on
Tabeaud Road approaching the curve at Pine Acres at a stated speed of 25 mph.
34 Sackett of Pine Grove, also identified by only her last name was traveling
on Tabeaud Road approaching the curve as well at a stated speed of 25 mph. As Gurzenski went through the curve
the rear of her 2004 Jeep began to slide, she then overcorrect and went head on
into Sackett’s 2006 Dodge. The front of the Jeep collided with the front of the
Dodge pushing the Doge onto the shoulder of Tabeaud Road and the Jeep
came to rest blocking both the north bound and south bound lanes of Tabeaud
Road. Gurzenski had complaints of pain to her and hand stomach, and due to her
being 4 and half months pregnant she was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center
as a precaution. The 9 month old in her vehicle suffered no injuries. Sackett
had complaints of pain to her neck and lower back and was transported to SAH
for treatment. Both of her passengers were uninjured as well.
