Survey Being Conducted On Amador County’s Transportation Needs
A new survey is being conducted in the county- this time to look at our local transit and transportation needs. The survey is being conducted by a diverse group of individuals from multiple agencies and organizations throughout the county including the Amador Regional Transit System, or ARTS, the ARC of Amador County, Social Services, First Five Amador, Amador County, and concerned citizens. This group evolved out of the two workshops on the issue that were held last February and April that are part of the county’s general plan information findings. Together these organizations form a group called the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council.
This committee is an advisory committee to Amador County Transportation Commission and is chaired by the ARC’s Mike Rolf. The goal of the survey is to determine the transit and transportation needs of the county by looking at current transit use, as well as, establishing benchmarks to increase public transit use by citizens in the future. Some ideas the committee is considering, pending the results of the survey, are completely open at this point, depending on local needs. High School students are also being included in this survey to look at after school activities such as sports and drama. The surveys are available at libraries, various churches, schools, community agencies, social services, large employers and more.
