PG&E Local Support

Continuing its commitment to support the economic vitality of the communities it serves, Pacific Gas and Electric Company yesterday announced the granting of $379,000 to 63 community-based organizations for local economic development and community development projects throughout northern and central California. This marks the fifth year of funding for the company's Economic Development Grant Program, which is supported through PG&E's shareholder-funded charitable giving program.
The Sierra Nonprofit Support Center, which serves Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties was a local recipient of the grant funds. The Sierra Nonprofit Support Center, whose stated mission is to value local nonprofits and the people who staff, volunteer, and direct the growth of these organizations, received 6,000 dollars from the philanthropic arm of the utility giant. The group believes that empowered and strengthened nonprofit agencies can best serve the needs of the community. When the needs of the communities are met, we create an environment for thriving activities, excellent services, and healthy community members. The monies will be spent on a program called- Volunteerism, the heart of the Mother Lode.
