slide12Abercrombie the city of Sutter Creek is actively pursuing replacing or expanding the Sutter Creek waste water treatment plant to not only benefit current ARSA areas, Sutter Creek, Martell, and Amador City but that plan also now includes Jackson.  Further development of the Hwy 49 corridor partners’ sewer solutions will also have residual benefits in Ione, as ARSA can cut their waste water demands with their other important partner, Ione. ARSA and Ione are currently working with the State and Mule Creek State Prison and the Preston Youth Facility to further solve the western part of the county’s waste water woes.

slide14 In Ione the situation is at a point where there is not currently enough sewer capacity to hook up the homes and developments for which approval to build has been given. Abercrombie stated that “We spent about $200,000 developing this wastewater treatment and disposal plan and from a financial and technical stand point the plan is very feasible.” The Cities of Sutter Creek, Jackson and Amador City, the Amador Water Agency, the Amador Regional Sanitation Authority, and engineers HDR and ECO Logic have all been working in cooperation to develop the regional Wastewater solution that will provide for current and future capacity needs. The focus of today’s meeting will be on a short term Improvements that will meet the needs of development projects that have already been given a will serve, or a promise, for wastewater permits, but have now been told that there is not enough capacity to accommodate them.

slide16 One of the short term solutions that has been discussed is adding capacity to the existing Sutter Creek plant. This would allow the current wastewater flows until the regional plant is constructed allowing for new hook ups to serve both Martell and Sutter Creek. However, at previous meetings it has been emphasized that temporary expansion at the Sutter Creek Plant will only buy about one years additional capacity giving further urgency to the development of a permanent regional wastewater solution. Other short term solutions are expected to be discussed at today’s meeting which will again be held at the new Administration building at 1:30pm.
