Pre-Weigh In Dates & New Rules Announced For Junior Livestock Auction At Amador County Fair

slide15The Amador County Fair has also announced the pre-weigh-in dates for large and small animals that exhibitors plan to show in this summer's Fair competition. Any 4-H, FFA, Grange or Independent Exhibitors who do not file the appropriate paperwork and pre-weigh-in their animals by the designated date will be disqualified from selling their market animals during the Fair.

For large animals the beef pre-weigh in is Saturday March 25th from 7am-11am. Horse Independent Exhibitors must register paperwork (being your bill of sale and ownership) and pictures required by March 28, 2007 (120 days prior to Fair). For small animals which include, sheep, swine, and meat goat the pre-weigh in is Sunday May 20th from 7am-11am. The poultry and rabbit exhibitors must declare their intent Sunday May 20th from 7am -11am. Independent Exhibitors must register by Friday, May 25, 2007 (60 days prior to Fair) Paperwork (bill of sale/ownership) and pictures are required. All pre-weigh ins  will be held in the Amador County Fair livestock parking and camping area located off of Empire St. There are also new eligibility rules for sellers of market animals in the Jr. Livestock Auction at the Amador County Fair this year.

slide17 Each exhibitor must prepare and make a marketing presentation to at least three people who have not previously purchased at the Jr Livestock auction. Following the Beef pre-weigh-in on March 25th, Fair Board Director Frank Halvorsen will provide information about the new eligibility requirements for selling at the Auction. He will also provide some training and offer direction and instruction about the most effective ways of promoting the sale. CEO Susan Clark offers “We expect an even better Junior Livestock Auction in 2007 through this contact with many new potential buyers. This new program encourages education to the public by those who are raising our market animals.” When attending preweighin activities please enter off of Empire St. Any 4-H, FFA, Grange or Independent Exhibitors who do not file the appropriate paperwork and pre-weigh-in their animals by the designated date will be disqualified from selling their market animals during the Fair.
