slide2On January 3, 2007 the Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mission Electronics located at 11968 Hwy 88 in the Amador Plaza to the report of the theft of a 42” LCD flat screen television valued at $1950.00 from the loading area.  During the investigation, deputies obtained surveillance video of the area.  The video depicted a blue Ford Bronco as possibly being involved.  Law enforcement personnel in the area were provided this information and requested to be on the lookout for the vehicle. On January 19, 2007 at approximately 0930 hours, a deputy sheriff patrolling the Amador Ridge Shopping Center spotted a blue Ford Bronco matching the description of the one possibly involved in the theft.  Deputies detained the vehicle at the Safeway Gas Station located at 12110 Industrial Boulevard.  It was determined that the vehicle displayed license plates not issued for that vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Richard Raul Raymond Munoz Jr., 20, of Pioneer was subsequently arrested for operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.  The passenger, Richard Raul Munoz Sr., 42 of Pioneer was arrested for having false license plates on the vehicle and an active traffic warrant from Merced County.  Both denied any involvement in the theft of the television.  After the arrest of the Munoz’s, deputies responded to their residence at 24021 Red Corral Road, Pioneer.   Deputies contacted Eloisa Munoz.  Eloisa told deputies that her husband and son had given her a 42” LCD flat screen television as a gift approximately two weeks prior.  The deputies confirmed the television in Munoz’s possession was the same one stolen from Mission Electronics on January 3, 2007.The television was seized and both the father and son were then booked into the Amador County Jail on additional charges of PC 487, grand theft and PC 496, possession of stolen property.  Bail was set at $20,000.00 on the theft related offenses.
