History In The Making: Jackson Police Sergeant Christy Stidger Promoted To Captain
Written by
Jackson Chief of Police
Scott Morrison announces that it’s official. “I am honored and pleased to announce the promotion of
Christy Stidger from Police Sergeant to Police Captain,” he said. This
is history in the making for the as Stidger is the first Police Captain in the history of the
Jackson Police Dept., the highest ranking female in the history of the Dept.,
and the highest ranking female for general/municipal law enforcement in the
history of Amador County. Stidger is a veteran law enforcement officer
with twenty-five years of experience.
She started her career as a
Communications Dispatcher with the Los Angeles Co. Sheriff’s Department. She
also doubled her duties by serving as the Sheriff’s Reserve Lieutenant and was
assigned to the Patrol Narcotics Divisions. Christy and her husband Drew
decided to move to northern California in the early 1990’s, at which point Drew
became a Police Officer for the Jackson Police Department, while Christy went
to work for the University of the Pacific Department. While still working for
the University of the Pacific, Stidger became a police reserve Officer with the
Jackson Police Department.
It was only when her husband was transferred to the Amador Co. Sheriff’s Office
that Stidger decided to become a fulltime Police Officer with the Jackson
Police Department. Stidger has served in several assignments since she has began working with the
Department: Reserve Officer, Police Officer, Field Training Officer, Narcotics
Investigator and Police Sergeant, and now as Jackson first ever female
Police Captain.
