Violent Parolee At Large Arrested

slide14The Amador County Sheriff’s Office announced that on Wednesday through cooperation with the CDCR they arrested a violent parolee at large.  At approximately 1pm on Wednesday, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Parole Unit.  They advised they possessed information that a parolee at large, considered armed and dangerous, was at the Jackson Rancheria Casino.

slide16 CDCR reported the suspect was also a suspect in a violent crime in Nevada. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office notified the Jackson Rancheria Department of Health and Safety and their officers began efforts to locate and monitor the suspect through electronic surveillance.  The Amador County Sheriff’s Office activated the Sheriffs SWAT team to affect the high risk arrest. At approximately 4:22pm, the suspect and an associate exited the casino and entered the parking structure.  Once in the parking structure, the suspect was confronted by Amador Sheriff’s SWAT team members. 

The suspect refused to comply with the orders of the deputies and attempted to flee an on foot pursuit ensued.  The subject was detained after a short foot pursuit. An El Dorado County Sheriff’s canine team, the CDCR Parolee Apprehension Team and the Jackson Rancheria Department of Health and Safety assisted with the apprehension. The suspect, Abram Luis Sassenberg, 26, of Sacramento was arrested and charged with violation of parole.  Sassenberg is being held in the Amador County Jail without bail.
