The search for a Pioneer man ended happily
Friday afternoon after the man was found by Amador County Search and rescue
personnel. Sheriff’s
Department officials received a call Friday morning around 9 am that William Pauli, 86 of Pioneer
had wandered away from his Deer Ridge Rd home. Due to his age and a medical condition the sheriff’s
department considered him missing and at risk.
He left in an unknown direction of travel and
had approximately 20-30 minute head start in front of emergency personnel. Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies, the
Sheriff’s Search and rescue team, the CHP Helicopter aerial search, and K9
tracking teams began searching the area. They were joined by the Sheriff’s ATV
patrol. Under Sheriff James Wegner also reported that the Sheriff’s
Department launched their Reverse 911 system to notify neighbors in the area to
be on the look out. Mr. Pauli had
also walked away from his home in August of 2004, wherein a full search was
implemented at that time. He was subsequently located, in August 2004, in the
Mokelumne River Canyon. Mr. Pauli was found by searchers later in the day on
Friday as well
