The California Highway Patrol is reporting
several accidents over the weekend on Amador county roadways. Friday afternoon saw two collision
one on Latrobe Rd
near the county line and the other at Rocky lane in the Pioneer area.
The Latrobe Road
collision involved a solo car driven by Joseph Simon, 19 years old of Sacramento,
and his passenger, 18 year old Heather Thorton of Rancho
Cordova. The pair was southbound on Latrobe in a 1990 Acura
Integra when Simon failed to negotiate a turn in the road just after crossing
the Cosumnes River, according to the CHP report, due
to his level of intoxication. The car skidded off of the roadway, struck a tree
and then overturned. Simon
was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence.
In the Pioneer area, 58
year old Anthony Shillinger of West Point lost
control of his car while on Highway 26. His car left the roadway rolling
down a hill and finally coming to rest against a tree. Shillinger was
uninjured. Saturday morning Hwy 88 traffic was tied up after a collision
involving 67 year old Ivan Cowart of Sutter Creek and 62 year old Johanne
Hannes of Fremont.
Cowart, according to the CHP repor,t was making a left hand turn onto Taves Rd. from Hwy
88 when he turned in front of Hannes. Hannes experienced only minor injuries to
her knees.
