CHP Officer Melissa Scobee responded to the
scene of an accident only to find that the driver was no where to be found. According to her report the
accident occurred on Tuesday on Hwy. 88 west of Bamert Road. The unknown driver
was driving the 1994 Volkswagen Jetta east bound on Hwy. 88 at a high rate of
speed when it appears they made an abrupt turning movement towards the north
roadway edge. The Jetta then traveled off the north roadway edge in a
north easterly direction through a ditch and then a culvert. The vehicle
continued on colliding with a fence which caused the car to rollover and come
to rest on its wheels. Officer Scobee’s report states that after the collision
the unknown driver fled the scene and the vehicle was located at its place of
rest.
Speed and wet roadways combined yesterday
morning when an accident occurred at Buena Vista and Coal Mine Roads. 47 year old Keith Creason of Valley Springs
was driving his 2005 Chevy north bound on Buena Vista Road at about 65 mph,
according to Officer Mike Lemaster’s report. Creason failed to negotiate a left bank curve just south
of Coal Mine road, causing the vehicle to travel of the right shoulder of the
roadway. In efforts to avoid an accident Creason overcorrected to the
left causing the vehicle to leave the roadway travel into a field hitting a
fence. Creason was uninjured in the accident while his Chevy did suffer some
damage.
