slide2Last night around 10:45 pm a structure fire behind locked gates at 7500 Lake Amador Drive was reported to emergency dispatchers. First responders reported that a large column of smoke and flames were visible from Hwy 88 upon their approach. The first two emergency personnel to arrive on scene were Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies who reported a fully involved structure engulfed in flames.
Moments after the arrival of CDF, Ione Fire Department, Jackson Valley Fire and Mule Creek Fire personnel the roof collapsed and the imminent danger of the demise of the home’s propane tank was apparent to firefighters. Although evacuations of neighboring homes were briefly discussed, the closest residence was 500 yards away and on site law enforcement deemed evacuations not necessary at the time. The fire was confined to the structure as crews worked to make sure the fire didn’t spread. Investigators will be on scene this morning trying to determine the cause of the fire.
