Saturday at the Pine Grove Community Park a 3 year old boy was injured when he apparently climbed a fence to play on the fountain in the park. Pine Grove Community Services District Board Chair Paul Johnston said there are conflicting stories about what happened. One story is that the boy, after climbing over the fence, reached up and grabbed the fountain sprayer- a pineapple shaped piece of concrete at the top- and it subsequently broke off and hit him in the head causing the child to fall. The second possible situation is that the boy while climbing the fence began to fall and reached out and tried to grab the fountain causing the top of the fountain to topple and hit his head. Johnston said that the parents are the only ones who would have been witness to the event since apparently no one else was in the park. The parents transported the young boy next door to the Pine Grove fire station and medics were called. The child was subsequently transported to the Pine Grove Camp to be airlifted to UC Davis receive further care. Johnston stated that he hopes the child is doing well. TSPN has received reports that the child suffered no serious injuries

Before Monday morning’s fatal accident on Camanche Rd another serious accident occurred on the same Roadway near Curran Rd. At around 7:20 am  on Monday Jennifer Roberts, 19 of Ione was southbound on Curran Rd when as she was negotiating a wide sweeping  righthand curve she allowed her vehicle to run of the roadway. In attempt to remain on the roadway she subsequently overcorrected to her left causing the vehicle to cross run completely off the roadway colliding with an embankment and rolling several times. Roberts was transported to UCDavis Med Center with major injuries. 

The CHP responded to several accidents over the weekend with the majority of the accidents occurring on Sunday.  The sudden storm that moved in on Saturday and brought snow to farther upcountry caught one San Jose driver off guard. According to the CHP report written by investigating Officer Brandon Hallam, Thong Nguyen, 40 and of San Jose was traveling west bound on Hwy. 88 east of Iron Mountain road at approximately 50 mph in his 1998 BMW

Between April 6 and April 10, 2007 the Jackson Police Department and Amador County Sheriff’s Office received four reports of thefts of purses from shopping carts.  Two incidents occurred at Safeway in Martell and two incidents occurred at Raley’s in Jackson.  Portions of all four incidents were captured on video surveillance.  A witness provided a description of a suspicious female subject and an associated vehicle in the area during both incidents at Safeway. Based upon that information, Amador County Sheriff’s Investigators identified the possible suspect.  The surveillance videos from the incidents were enhanced with the assistance of an Investigator from the Amador County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities were searching for a 32-year-old attempted-murder suspect who escaped from Sheriff's Office custody after a court appearance Monday afternoon. While being transferred from the San Joaquin County Superior Court to the County Jail, Eric Hu switched clothes with an inmate from the jail's minimum-security HonorFarm, sheriff's deputies announced late Monday.Hu was then seen leaving the Honor Farm in a maroon van driven by a dark-haired woman, sheriff's officials said. Hu should be considered dangerous, they said. He faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and weapons offenses. The combination of a dry winter, early weed and brush development and plenty of broken tree limbs on the ground have state and local fire officials urging people to clean up their property and establish their 100 feet of defensible space in advance of what they suspect will be a busy and early fire season. Defensible space is required by a state law mandating a 100-foot clearance around homes or clearance to the property line — whichever is greater. Typically, CDF's fire season starts in May. But last year, when the area was doused with plenty of rain, the season didn't start until June 5. It's been 30 years since a fire season started before the month of May

CAL FIRE moved equipment and personnel to Southern California last week in anticipation of extreme fire danger posed by the combination of high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity. According to Tobie Edmonds Communications Officer with the CAL FIRE Prevention Bureau, the Amador/ El Dorado Unit of CAL FIRE has sent 3 Engines, 2 from Amador County and 1 from El Dorado County, as well as two Hand Crews from Pine Grove Camp,  two hand crews from Growlersburg Camp, 1 Engine from Nevada and 1 from Tulomne-Calaveras Unit, for a total of 86 people to the fire that was raging through Orange County, but is now contained. As a result of the recent fires CAL FIRE is reminding homeowners in areas susceptible to wildfire to protect their property with Defensible Space as required by state law. “By removing dead vegetation 100 feet from homes and following a few simple steps, homeowners can drastically increase their safety,” said Director Ruben Grijalva of CAL FIRE. “In California it is not a question of if a wildfire is going to occur, but more of a question of when.”

Sutter Creek Police have been following every lead in the search for a subject that accosted a former girlfriend on Bryson Drive Saturday night.  According to police reports the Victim got out of her car in her garage. As she opened the garage door to head out towards her front door, the subject was standing there.  He then allegedly pushed her back into the garage, and according to the victim made all kinds of threats towards her. Sutter Creek Police have received several calls of sightings of the subject described as having longer hair in black pants and a green jacket. On Sunday evening the subject once again contacted the victim, this time by telephone, trying to find out what the victim had told the police.  The victim was able to get the phone number from where suspect was calling and gave that to the Sheriff’s Department dispatch.  From dispatch, the Sutter Creek PD was able to determine that the call was made from a pay phone at the Summit Center area located at the corner of Ridge Rd and Hwy 49. 

Last night around 5:30 pm a car fire was reported on Hwy 88 at Previtali Rd. That proved to be false alarm as the car was only overheating. As fire crews were cancelled on that call a second report of a fire, this time a structure fire, was reported. This was the real deal and The Jackson fire department assisted by CDF(Calfire), Amador Fire Protection District Battalion 10, and Sutter Creek Fire quickly brought the house fire on Bright Avenue to a quick. The structure seemed intact, but there seemed to be heavy damage inside. There were no reported injuries.

The Amador Co. Sheriff’s Dept. is currently investigating a robbery that occurred this morning at the Jackson Rancheria Casino and Hotel. According to Law Enforcement Officials they were contacted by tribal police regarding a robbery that occurred when a male subject met up with a female suspect in the casino and they subsequently returned to a hotel room together.
