Fire Threatens Home on Ridge Road Sunday

slide2Another destructive fire destroyed several homes in Tahoe City this weekend and Amador County had yet another close call with potential destruction Sunday afternoon.

slide5 Yesterday around 3 pm a fire was reported on Ridge Rd. near Bates Rd. The fire was reported to CHP dispatch, initially, and was transferred to Cal Fire Dispatch. A full response was ordered- as a home in the area of North Star Court was being threatened by the fast moving fire. Ridge Rd was then closed between New York Ranch Rd and the Climax Rd split. The fire fighting effort included 4 Chief Officers,12 engines including CalFire engines, Amador Fire Protection District Battalion 10 engines, and mutual aid from Jackson City Fire, Lockwood Fire, Ione City Fire and Mule Creek Fire.

Residents of the area had already begun fire fighting efforts with garden hoses and shovels to protect their properties and were relieved at the advancing legions of firefighting professionals. The fire was declared contained to 12 acres about 6 pm by Cal Fire Battalion Chief Dennis Tremelling. The fire is under investigation by CalFire Prevention.
