Good detective work has also paid off for the
Amador County Sheriff’s Department in another case and an arrest has been
announced in an upcountry robbery case. On Saturday August 25, 2007 a
clerk at the Sierra Trading Post at 26810 Silver Drive, Pioneer was robbed at
knife point by a masked man.
The
suspect gave the clerk a note demanding money from the cash register and
instructions to place the money into a bag provided by the suspect. The suspect fled from the scene on foot.
Amador County Sheriff’s Patrol personnel conducted a preliminary investigation
with follow up investigation being conducted by the Detective Bureau. Through investigative techniques, Amador
County Sheriff’s Detectives identified a possible suspect. On Wednesday August 29, 2007 detectives
contacted the possible suspect at his residence which was less than ½ mile from
the business. The suspect was
interviewed regarding his involvement in the crime. The suspect confessed to committing the
robbery and he provided intimate details of the crime. The suspect stated his motive to commit this
offense was due to financial hardship.
The investigation revealed that the suspect is in fact a regular
customer of the store. Detectives were
successful in recovering $55.00 of the $282.00 originally stolen. Amador County Sheriff’s Detectives
arrested Dennis Lincoln Libby, 56, of Pioneer and charged him with
robbery. Libby was also arrested on
three outstanding Amador Superior Court arrest warrants for traffic related
offenses. Libby is being held in the
