Public Notice was given for Water and Sewer Rate Increases, with a proposed increase of 8.5% for all water customers and a sewer rate increase of 17.5% for residential and commercial customers. If approved, these rates would be effective January 1, 2008. Additional increases to water services would take place on July 1, 2008 with a 6% increase, and another 6.5% increase on July 1, 2009. A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 to accept protests and consider adoption of the water and sewer rate increases. In accordance with the Proposition 218 Protest Procedure, if a majority of the public protests the proposed rate increase in writing, the City cannot impose the rate increase. A public hearing had been scheduled to appeal the Jackson Planning Commission’s
Approval of the Oak Manor Addition Conditional Use Permit, and that was
continued to October 9th . Also, an ordinance to rezone Jackson
Hills Golf Course and Community to Residential Single Family and Planned Unit
Development was also continued to the next meeting, when the council agreed
this was an issue which should be discussed with a full council.
