Jared Allen Ordered to Pay Restitution

A SUTTER CREEK MAN CHARGED IN A DUI FATAL ACCIDENT HAS BEEN ORDERED BY A CALAVERAS COUNTY COURT TO PAY RESTITUTION TO THE VICTIM’S FAMILY.  JARED ALLEN, 24, WILL HAVE TO PAY $1,242 IN RESTITUTIONS TO THE MOTHER OF JEREMY BROWN, A 23 YEAR OLD JACKSON RESIDENT AND FRIEND OF ALLEN’S, WHO WAS KILLED AFTER BEING EJECTED FROM THE CAR ALLEN WAS DRIVING. ALLEN WAS BACK IN COURT FRIDAY MORNING AFTER HAVING BEEN ARRESTED FOR DUI AND VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER AFTER A MAY 1ST ACCIDENT KILLED BROWN.

ACCORDING TO THE CHP REPORT THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ALLEN WAS TRAVELING THROUGH MOKELUMNE HILL ON HWY 49. AS ALLEN PROCEEDED THROUGH TOWN A CAR DRIVEN BY 48 YEAR OLD JULIE HENDERSON OF MOKE HILL STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN.  ALLEN, ACCORDING TO THE CHP REPORT, DUE TO HIS LEVEL OF INTOXICATION, SUDDENLY REALIZED THAT HENDERSON WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF HIM AND ATTEMPTED TO STEER AROUND THE REAR OF HENDERSON’S CAR. THE MANEUVER WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND ALLEN’S JEEP HIT THE REAR OF THE HENDERSON’S CAR, CAUSING THE JEEP TO RUN OFF OF THE WEST SIDE OF HWY 49. ALLEN THEN OVERCORRECTED AND THE JEEP ROLLED EJECTING AND KILLING BROWN.

ALLEN HAS BEEN ORDERED TO PAY RESTITUTIONS TO BROWN’S MOTHER FOR BURIAL AND CREMATION COSTS. CALAVERAS COUNTY DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY DANA PFEIL  TOLD THE JUDGE AT THE RESTITUTION HEARING THAT ADDITIONAL RESTITUTION MAY BE SOUGHT FOR BROWN’S BROTHER, WHOM SHE SAID WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH THE SITUATION, ALTHOUGH HIS FAMILY CAN NOT CURRENTLY LOCATE HIM. ALLEN’S CASE WAS CONTINUED TO NOV. 2, AT WHICH TIME HIS TRIAL MAY BEGIN DEPENDING ON HIS ATTORNEY, FORMER AMADOR COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY, STEVE CILENTI’S, SCHEDULE.
