Open House on Options for Plymouth Intersection
The City of Plymouth
will celebrate its 91st anniversary as a California city this year. This announcement at last
week’s Plymouth City Council meeting accompanied discussion of a number of
changes for the city. The public is invited to hear about 4 options for
improving the intersection of Plymouth Main Street and Highway 49 at an open house
on Thursday, November 8 at 5 pm at Plymouth
City Hall. Options
include a “roundabout,’ signalization, a four-way stop, and doing nothing. The
Plymouth Pipeline project is moving forward with about half of the property
easements needed for the project secured, according to city administrator Gene
Albaugh.
The city council also approved additional environmental review on the
pipeline project – the contract for that study will go out to bid in January.
Also on the agenda was the Plymouth Downtown Revitalization Plan. This plan is
designed to ultimately designate a revitalization district, eligible for
revitalization grant funds, to restore and clean up parts of Main Street, Plymouth.
And council members director
staff to start the process needed to change city administrator Albaugh’s title
to City Manager. The city manager title comes with the authority to hire
and fire city staff, which Albaugh currently is not authorized to do. The city
council also voted to close Plymouth Main Street for the Scottish Candlelight
Walk on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 6 – 7:30 pm.
