Amador County Sheriff's Holds Promotion Ceremony Thursday

For the first time ever Thursday, Amador County Sheriff’s office promoted a female officer to the position of lieutenant, and another correctional officer to sergeant. Thursday’s Sheriff’s office promotions ceremony was held in the Board of Supervisors chambers and was attended by a number of county dignitaries, Sheriff department staff and friends and family. Sheriff Martin Ryan officiated at the swearing in ceremony, first promoting to sergeant Correctional Officer Adam Stone.

Stone graduated from Amador High School and lives with his wife Dawn and their 2 children in Volcano. Stone is the first sergeant in the county’s corrections department. Next Sheriff Ryan announced the promotion of Correctional Lieutenant Vickie Stephens. Stephens was recognized by Ryan for her leadership as a correctional officer at the county jail. As a lieutenant, Stephens will be a mid-level manager in the Sheriff’s office. She is an Alaska native who came to Amador County in 1986 with her husband John, and joined the Sheriff’s office in 1995 as a correctional officer. According to Sheriff Ryan, both Stephens and Stone passed a stringent testing and interview process, judged by a panel that included sheriffs officials from other counties in the region.
