Despite the unfortunate historical association between drunk drivers and the Memorial Day Weekend, local reports indicate that the numbers of drunk-driving incidents were down in Amador County. There were a total of six reported accidents in Amador County over the three-day weekend, the majority of which were minor with no injuries. According to California Highway Patrol officer Craig Harmon, between Friday at 6 p.m. and Monday at midnight, there were 12 seat belt tickets and 48 speeding violations issued for a total of 78 citations.
