The Amador County Library is now offering some new services available on
the internet. The services include access to electronic resource
databases which are being provided to the library through our membership in the
49/99 library cooperative. Some of the new databases are Fact Cards, a series
of research resources designed for quick reference for students in grades 4
through 8. The topics covered by Fact Cards are those California, United States, and World topics
included in the social studies curriculum in California.
Student Resource Center - Gold offers easy
access to award-winning content based on national curriculum standards, covering all core curriculum areas,
including history, literature, science, social studies, and more. Health
and Wellness Resource Center provides
instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials.
It includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, numerous reference volumes,
over 700 health videos from partner Healthology, Inc., hundreds of pamphlets
and health-related articles. The
database Infotrac
Custom 1000 gives access
to full text magazine articles on a wide range of topics: business, news,
sports, education, law, literature, art, current events, politics, science,
social science, and more. Also
available are links to free downloadable electronic books available on the
internet. An electronic book is a book that is available online.
E-books can usually be viewed either online or downloaded to a portable device
such as a computer, PDA, iPod, or MP3 player. There are many free sites
available for you to utilize. For more information stop by your local branch of the library , call
