Similar to last year, Math scores, are slightly lower, averaging in the low 3-hundreds. Both Junior High Schools hit around the 3-hundred-50 mark for both English and Math. The two comprehensive high schools, Amador and Argonaut, were in the upper 3-hundreds for English and all over the board, between the high 2-hundreds and mid 3-hundreds for Math, depending on the level of math instruction. In a cursory comparison to state averages all grade levels met or exceeded the mean state scores for English. In math, local elementary students scored at or slightly below the state average mean scores. For the Junior High school student’s scores nearly matched the state means.
Once the scores hit the Algebra 1 level local students start to lose ground- consistently scoring lower across the grade levels- the exception being 10th graders whom exceeded state mean levels. Geometry scores continue the pattern and this time it is the 11th graders that exceeded the state mean scores. Algebra 2 scores for high school students are a bright spot consistently higher than the state levels. Local students scored very well against the state average in History and Biology Life Sciences.
