This weekend the community gathered together in Volcano to see alternative energy options at the well attended Mother Lode Fall Energy Expo presented by the Volcano Community Service District in partnership with PG&E.
Besides learning about new energy technologies, attendees also helped to benefit the restoration and rehabilitation of the Armory Hall Community Center in Volcano. PG&E presented alternative energy options for consumers, including lighting, as well as a demonstration that shows exactly what happens when fuse blowouts occur. The Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency, or ATCAA, presented information that included reduced cost energy programs, blankets, and other money saving devices and ideas. Prospect Motors featured an exhibit showcasing hybrid and ethanol vehicles which highlight GM’s growing line of FlexFuel vehicles that can run on either gasoline of corn-based E85 ethanol. This is important because California continues to experience reduced air quality and consumers are increasingly interested in alternative fuel vehicles, E85 ethanol will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on petroleum. Also represented at the expo was Renewable Technologies, a solar energy company and other companies that help consumers save energy.
