According to the Amador Water Agency's Manager of Planning and Engineering, Gene Mancebo, the first project involved changing the media which helps filter water in the filter system at the Tanner Treatment Plant.  Mancebo says "By replacing the filter media it extended the filter run times so that they can produce more water in a given day. “  The Tanner Treatment plant had an increased production of approximately 864,000 gallons a day through this single change. The second project undertaken consisted of improving the line that transports the filtered water to the treated water reservoir. By early June both projects were completed and cost the Amador Water Agency approximately $230,000. 

The projects, budgeted for in last year's budget, were paid for with new development fees.  The improvements are considered a huge success said Mancebo, because for a relatively small amount of money, production increased at the Tanner Treatment Plant by over 800,000 gallons a day.  He calculated that each gallon from a new plant constructed without financing, would cost approximately $2.50; while with the improvements the agency made this year, each gallon for additional capacity cost 26 to 27 cents a gallon. Needless to say the agency considered the two projects a huge success.
