slide2On Monday March 5, 2007 at approximately 1708 hours the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible illegal dumping occurring on Coal Mine Road south of the Co-Gen plant.  Upon arrival, deputies observed a black truck parked in a turnout, occupied by one subject.  As deputies drove past the vehicle, the subject exited the vehicle and fled into the woods.  Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies, with the assistance of an Ione Police Officer and a California Highway Patrol Officer, set a perimeter.

slide4 Upon conducting an area search of the woods, deputies contacted and detained two adults and two juveniles. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the four had come to the area from San Joaquin County with the intent to commit theft from secured bins at the plant.  It was determined that the individuals had successfully forced entry into one of the bins. Utilizing a Sheriff’s Canine, an area search was conducted wherein a stolen electronic stud sensor, gloves and bolt cutters were located concealed near a pond. Anthony Ray Beltran, 18, of Clements; Richard Westly Kimmel, 18; of Lockeford; and two 17 year old juveniles, both from Clements; were subsequently arrested and charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.  The adults were booked into the Amador County Jail while the minors were released to the custody of the Amador County Probation Department.
