The solo vehicle collision occurred on Hwy 49 just north of Electra Rd when for an unknown reason the driver of a older Chevy pick up truck veered off of the highway and down a steep embankment.
As emergency personnel arrived on scene it became clear that a major rescue effort would be necessary to bring the injured woman to safety. A system of pulleys and ropes was used by Jackson City Fire Personnel, CalFire personnel and American Legion Ambulance crews, all working together, to get the injured woman to the top of the bank and on the road to Sutter Amador Hospital, The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
