CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY CALTRANS INSTALLING RUMBLE STRIPS ON STATE ROUTES IN AMADOR AND TUOLUMNE COUNTIES

Amador and Tuolumne Counties – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin work on a project that will install rumble strips in the median and outside shoulders of the roadway at three locations:

·      State Route 16 (SR-16) in Amador County, from the Sacramento County line to east of Long Gate Road, a distance of 2.5 miles;

·      SR-88 in Amador County, from the San Joaquin County line to the Jackson Creek Bridge, a distance of 3.1 miles;

·      SR-120 in Tuolumne County, from west of La Grange Road to west of Enterprise Drive, a distance of 5.3 miles.

Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 6, 2015, and be completed in May 2015.

Rumble strips are designed to alert drivers when their vehicles leave their traffic lane. As tires pass over the rumble strips, drivers can hear the noise and feel the vibration produced by these rumble strips. These strips are ground into the pavement surface.

One-way traffic control will be used and drivers should expect 10-minutes delays.

This $292,000 project has been awarded to Linear Options of Durham.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
