Saturday night the Amador County Sheriff’s
department was busy in the Ione area responding to a domestic violence call. The Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from the Oakridge Circle
area of Ione reporting that a male subject, Carlos Rangel Munoz, 55, of Ione
was armed with a rifle and a handgun and had threatened to shoot his wife. According
to the Sheriff’s Department, Munoz's wife reported that she and Munoz were
involved in a domestic argument outside of a residence.
Munoz
armed himself with a rifle, cycled the action and made the statement that he
should just shoot her- referring to his wife.
The wife went back inside the residence, while Munoz reportedly sat
outside the residence near a vehicle. The Sheriff’s Department
responded with several units. Upon
arrival, Deputies attempted to contact Munoz who refused to follow
instructions. After approximately
one hour of attempting contact with the suspect, who was still outside the
house, deputies were able to approach and evacuate the house of the three
occupants that were inside. After a
short period of further futile attempts to get Munoz to comply, deputies
approached him and took him into custody.
Five firearms were recovered at the scene. Munoz was arrested and charged with criminal
threats.
