Jackson, Calif. – Sutter Amador Hospital joined the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and other state/national rural stakeholders in celebrating National Rural Health Day on Thursday, Nov. 20.

NOSORH created National Rural Health Day as a way to showcase rural America; increase awareness of rural health-related issues; and promote the efforts of NOSORH, State Offices of Rural Health and others in addressing those issues.

Sutter Amador Hospital would like to recognize and thank all of its community partners who help spread the message of health and wellness in Amador County.

“Rural hospitals like Sutter Amador Hospital face unique health care challenges,” said Anne Platt, CEO, Sutter Amador Hospital. “Thanks to our affiliation with Sutter Health and our strong community partnerships, including with those who support us philanthropically, we are able to offer a variety of programs and services to the communities we serve. We are also proud of the quality care our staff and physicians provide at our hospital.”

Approximately 62 million people – nearly one in five Americans – live in rural and frontier communities throughout the United States. “These small towns, farming communities and frontier areas are wonderful places to live and work; they are places where neighbors know each other and work together,” notes NOSORH Director Teryl Eisinger. “The hospitals and providers serving these rural communities not only provide quality patient care, but they also help keep good jobs in rural America.”

Sutter Amador Hospital supports rural citizens through many programs and services. Sutter Amador Hospital’s Family Birth Center is the only one available in a three-county area and Sutter Medical Foundation’s award-winning pediatricians are located within steps from the hospital. Sutter Amador Hospital partners with various transportation agencies in Amador County to help fund Amador Rides, a program that offers transportation to those who need help getting to and from their doctor’s office. There are also various support groups and classes available to the community from stroke support to breastfeeding to diabetes.

About Sutter Amador Hospital

Sutter Amador Hospital is part of Sutter Health, a not-for-profit, community-based health network located throughout Northern California. The hospital’s rich history of Amador County dates back as far as 1876. The facility has 52 licensed beds and is the only hospital in Amador County serving a population of more than 40,000.
