Single Vehicle Collision on Michigan Bar Rd Yesterday
While crews in Jackson fought the fire, Battalion 20 Fire
crews were called, along with CalFire, to a single vehicle collision on Michigan Bar Rd in
the Ione area. The vehicle driven by 58 year old Virginia Sy of Sacramento left the road
way, overturning in a field. The eastbound lane of the roadway was blocked for
a short time as emergency crews tended to the driver who had only minor
injuries. According to CHP Officer Frank Peixoto the driver was wearing her
seatbelt and that drastically lessened her injuries.

Two Special Legislative Sessions called for to Deal With Healthcare Reform and Water Issue
Not one, but two, special legislative sessions is what Gov. Schwarzenegger
has called for to deal with healthcare reform and water issues. The
current legislative session is scheduled to end this Friday. The State Legislature
still has hundreds of bills before it. Schwarzenegger also has a number of
measures to sign or veto. In announcing the special sessions, the governor said
the stalled state budget negotiations put other legislative work behind. There
are at least two healthcare reforms proposals to be considered; one put forth
by Schwarzenegger and the other a Democratic-sponsored plan. Also, the governor wants lawmakers to take up
his proposals for more ground and surface water storage, a new water conveyance
system and Delta preservation.

presence in Iraq by about 30,000 by next summer, but will condition those and
further cuts on continued progress.
